At Stepping Stone Bright Beginnings, we provide a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. Our experienced staff is dedicated to ensuring that each child feels valued and supported, and our comprehensive curriculum is designed to promote physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
Children are born naturally curious and ready to explore the world around them. By understanding and acknlowedging this, we encourage and guide children's natural inquisitivity. Based on social learning theorist Lev Vygotsky's term "scaffolding" in which a teacher guides children through tasks and slowly reducing assistance until the task, skill, or ability is mastered (Groark et al., 2023). We encourage children to ask questions, investigate, and explore through play and experiementation.
Collaboration with families and community is one of our key values in our early education program. Collaborating with families helps us better understand children's backgrounds, strengths, needs, and creates a strong-trusting relationships that further supports children's learning and development. Collaborating with the community introduces children to different and unique eperiences.
We respect, understand, and acknowledge that every child is unique and learns differently. Our relationship building, developmentally appropriate teaching, and assessment practices help us create curriculum-based lessons and activities that support the learning and development of every individual child.
While it is our job to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care, children must engage in risk taking behaviors to develop essential skills and understanding of their bodies. Teachers must evaluate certain risks and behaviors and ask themselves, is it risky or dangerous? Our job is to talk to and prepare the children for risky behaviors and actions. When children engage in risk taking, they learn to listen to their bodies and know what they are capable of with practice and teacher guidance (The UAGC early childhood education center channel, 2024). As teachers, we must guide children through learning to listen to their bodies and trust that they know what they are capable of.
We understand the importance of working together with parents to support each child's development. Our parent resources include regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and access to our online parent portal.
Our program provides a rich classroom environment where children are encouraged to explore, create and problem solve, while making friends and developing self confidence. Our curriculum introduces language, literacy, math, science, sensory exploration and social skills.
Stepping Stone has created a home like atmosphere where your child can spend time with friends before and after school. The Brandon school district provides transportation both to and from school. The bus arrives and Stepping Stone at 8:15 a.m. and drops off at 4:20 p.m.
